Uber Freight has officially announced the launch of several enhancements for its end-to-end enterprise logistics platform. According to certain reports, these enhancements include strategic integration with Uber Direct, modular TMS functionality, advanced Insights AI features, and flexible procurement software. Now, while all the given components are a bit different in what they bring to the table, each one is markedly conceived to help customers achieve greater transparency, control, and intelligence across the entire supply chain. Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from Uber Freight’s newly-announced integration with Uber Direct, the company’s on-demand delivery-as-a-service platform. In essence, this integration combines one of North America’s largest logistics networks with one of the largest same-day delivery courier networks. More on the same would reveal a renewed Uber Freight’s Parcel Transportation Management System (PTMS), which is now embedded into the Uber Direct platform for powering new and faster delivery options, including same day and scheduled deliveries. Making the given detail only more important is the fact that Uber Freight has leveraged its PTMS product to manage over 250 million parcels in the last 12 months. As for Uber Direct, it is being used to deliver millions of packages on an annual basis.
“Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with our shipper partners to understand their evolving challenges and anticipate their future needs,” said Lior Ron, Founder and CEO of Uber Freight. “The progress we’ve made, and the innovations we’re unveiling today, are guided by these valuable customer insights. By collaborating with our customers, we’ve not only advanced our technology but also empowered them to achieve greater efficiency, resilience, and control across their supply chains. Together, we’re not just navigating the complexities of modern logistics—we’re redefining what’s possible.”
Next up, Uber Freight would introduce significant enhancements for its next-generation Transportation Management System (TMS). This it did to help the solution become as dynamic and adaptable as the supply chains it supports. From a more practical standpoint, these enhancements are likely to include an intuitive tracking portal, a simplified dock scheduler, a streamlined load management experience with intelligent data handling, and upgraded financial management tools. Joining them soon is an assortment of upcoming AI-powered search and shipment execution workflows, powered by new forms of large language model (LLM) and automation which promises even greater efficiency and intelligence in managing freight operations.
Alongside the given features, Uber Freight is also packed new advanced features into Insights AI, the company’s generative AI-powered insights tool which is out to revolutionize how shippers manage their networks. These features include enhanced chat functionality for more complex queries, as well as a new KPI dashboard that can deliver real-time and actionable insights. This builds upon all what Insights AI has already so far. You see, since its launch in September 2023, the tool has been fine-tuned through thousands of queries representing $1 billion+ in FUM (Freight Under Management). Moving forward, Insights AI will leverage cutting-edge AI models to offer proactive recommendations, and therefore, reinvent the way shippers make decisions and navigate logistics challenges.
Moving on, Uber Freight is even expanding access to Uber Freight Exchange: Contract, making the procurement platform generally available to all shippers. Not just that, it is also launching early access to Uber Freight Exchange: Spot exclusively for Uber Freight Managed Transportation customers. Rounding up highlights would be Uber Freight’s decision to bring an industry-first Design Partner Program, a unique initiative under which Uber Freight customers are to collaborate with the company on products that influence how goods will move both today and tomorrow.
“We previously spent considerable time manually setting up and running contract bids, as well as managing individual spot auctions. The time and cost savings we’ve achieved, along with the ability to grow our network and build strong relationships with our carriers, have significantly strengthened our transportation strategy and made our supply chain more efficient. It’s a critical part of how we execute procurement,” said Robert Chase, Director of Transportation and Inbound Logistics at Tosca.
